With so much support for our serving personnel on overseas
operational tours, we wanted to do something special for the
forgotten heroes - Forces Families. If you know someone coping
with separation from their serving loved one, nominate them to
receive a "Homefront Hero" box! We will send a goody box of age-appropriate toys, books and fun stuff to individuals and families of all ages - not just to children but spouses, parents, grandparents and even your best mate. A little box of cheer to help make the time apart go that little bit better for our Homefront Heroes. To send us address details of someone you wish to receive a Homefront Hero box Click Here If you would like to contribute to our Homefront Heroes boxes you can do so in several ways. 1. You can make a donation (£5.00 in value - as many multiples of as you wish) via the Web Shop. Upon checkout you will be able to nominate someone to receive the box you have sponsored in the "comments" box. 2. Send a donation of any amount to us in the post - cheque or postal order ONLY please - to The Yellow Ribbon Foundation, 16 Latimer Road, Carterton, Oxon OX18 3SE GG in Germany: I was at work when I was handed a package from you guys, when I opened it, I found a label saying 'To a Homefront Hero'. I have some lovely candles and some malteasers to share with my kids. So unexpected, thank you so much. E in Portsmouth: I came home from work early as was feeling grotty to find a lovely pressie. Really cheered me up, especially as I was a bit down today. Thank you all so much, only 11 days to go, but every one seems like a month at the moment. We also appreciate the enormous support for our Troops, and the desire from the public to do something for them. With both the BFPO and Armed Forces often struggling to cope with the additional post generated by unsolicited mail to Afghanistan, we recommend donating directly to the following charities: •SSAFA Forces Help Operational Welfare Fund - One of the key aims behind the new fund is to give members of the public, who have consistently demonstrated their generosity towards Service personnel, a genuine alternative to sending their own parcels to operational theatres in the run-up to Christmas. Although it is recognised and appreciated that people have the best of intentions when they send festive gifts out to troops, the MOD is stressing that donating to the Operational Welfare Fund represents a much more effective way of supporting troops. Click here to donate to the SSAFA Op Welfare Fund •UK4U Thanks! - is a registered charity which provides Christmas boxes (sometimes affectionately known as the 'square stocking') as 'a gift from the nation' to all those serving in the forces overseas away from their families on Christmas Day. In 2008, thanks entirely to generous donations from members of the public and our sponsors, uk4u will be able to send 24,500 Christmas gift boxes to UK Armed Forces personnel on duty overseas or in hospital over the Christmas period. We ensure that all servicemen and women who are serving away at Christmas receive a box, whether they are in the Army, Navy or RAF, and wherever they are in the world.
