We wear a yellow ribbon ...

This poem was written by a Navy Girlfriend, Cindy Tunnicliffe, especially for the Yellow Ribbon Foundation's "wear a yellow ribbon for the Troops campaign" back in March 2003.   Amazing to think it was 5 years ago, and we are still going strong!

We wear a yellow ribbon
We wear it near our heart
We wear it for our troops
While we are far apart.

It's a symbol of our Love
It's a symbol of our Pride
And we'll wear a Yellow Ribbon
Until they're back by our side.

So for all of our Armed Forces
Lets Us, that's Me and You
Wear a Yellow Ribbon
For our heroes, Brave & True.

Andrews UK release download single “Goodnight Dad” for The YRF
Yellow Ribbon Announcements
Goodnight Dad is a monologue read by illustrator and writer Mike Payne, with all net profits donated to the Yellow Ribbon Foundation.

How many times have we looked at the news on television, and thought to ourselves, “I wish I could do something!”

When Mike Payne, illustrator, writer and creator of the iconic Tatty Teddy from Me To You Bears, and the Charlie’s Ark range of audiobooks saw a news item on Sky News about another soldier being killed in Helmand Province, he did do something. He is hoping that it will generate much-needed funds for the Yellow Ribbon Foundation, which spreads awareness of and support for the British Armed Forces and their families and loved ones back home.

 Beer for the Boys
MoD News

"Beer for the Boys" is the brainchild of Wing Commander Steve Chadwick, Officer Commanding 216 Squadron based at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.  He started the campaign in 2007 with the aim of providing a can of beer to servicemen and women flying home from Afghanistan on RAF TriStar aircraft, which are operated by 216 Squadron.  Alcohol is not available to British troops whilst serving in Afghanistan, making the experience of a cold thirst-quencher on the flight home all the more special.

To read more on how the campaign started, keep up to date with beers already given out and how much has been donated so far, please visit the "Beers for the Boys" website at www.216squadron.com

The Yellow Ribbon Foundation is proud to sponsor the "Beers for the Boys" website, and give our wholehearted support to this great campaign.
